Soroptimist Challenges Community for Matching Donations to Food Bank

April 28, 2020

Soroptimist International of Napa is issuing a challenge to the Napa community! Please meet or exceed our donation of $1500 to the Napa Food Bank by making a minimum donation of $25! The CANV (Community Action Napa Valley) Food Bank is seeing an emptying pantry as the need for food has increased tremendously due to lack of a paycheck as a result of the Pandemic.

President Leigh Krieger, Vice President Ellen York and immediate Past President Teresa Zimny announced the $1500 donation voted on by the Napa Soroptimist club, but wanted to do more for the community. So they have issued a challenge to area residents, who can, to make a minimum donation of $25 to match and exceed Soroptimist’s donation of $1500. Shirley King, Director of CANV Food Bank said “That’s a great idea!”, and that donations can be made two ways: Send a check directly to CANV Food Bank at 1766 Industrial Way, Napa, CA  94558 or online at canv.org but please specify Food Bank Program.

Soroptimist International of Napa, like everyone else, has not been able to meet physically, but held a club” Zoom” Business meeting, when the decision was made to donate $1500 to support CANV Food Bank in Napa. They also reluctantly decided to postpone their annual Lobster Fest Fundraiser from October 2020 to Spring of 2021 due to the uncertainty of public gatherings in months to come. They are now holding Virtual Sip and Support Ladies Night Fundraiser with Katie Hamilton Shaffer and Feast it Forward May 9th. Information is on their website www.SoroptimistNapa.org or www.Facebook.com/SoroptimistIntlOfNapa email: .
