Virtual Buisness Meeting Held 4-21-2020 Via Zoom

President Leigh Krieger led Soroptimist International of Napa’s monthly Business meeting virtually via Zoom today April 21, 2020… thank you to Debbie Peralez for hosting! It was a successful meeting with many topics covered. We unfortunately voted to cancel the Annual Women’s Awards Banquet and the annual Service/Life Member luncheon – due to the uncertainty of the Corona Virus. Also with a heavy heart, the annual Lobster Fest has been canceled for 2020 that was to take place in October… plans are to try to reschedule for spring 2021.
In the meantime, there was much excitement for a virtual fundraising idea with Feast it Forward with Founder and Celebrity Host Katie Hamilton Shaffer. We are hoping for a date in May to celebrate Mother’s Day that we can all invite family and friends to participate in and raise some cash. It sounds quite exciting and fun!
The club voted to donate $1500 immediately to the local Food Bank to help support our community as we navigate this pandemic. Meanwhile, the deadline for Grant Applications for work benefitting women and girls has been extended to May 18. The Grant Application is available on our website: SoroptimistNapa.org.
In other business, Chair of the Nominations Committee, Ellen York, made the first presentation of nominations for the Board of Directors for 2020-2021. They are:
